(Part one of two). In these two workshops we will practice defining concepts based identifying the essential, shared traits that one group has compared with other, similar groups. In other words, we will be using the methods of the Objectivist epistemology, including identifying the units, the contrast objects, and the Conceptual Common Denominators of concepts. The first session will introduce the method. The second session will review a “homework” assignment the participants have prepared. No previous expertise in epistemology or the ideas of Ayn Rand is acquired. These workshops will challenge you to understand what you mean when you use abstract terms. What you find out may surprise you.
